Mac’s is a great family-friendly restaurant that both parents and kids will like, especially if you’re looking for award winning BBQ. And don’t forget the huge selection of craft beers for mom and dad to enjoy, responsibly of course.
From the vintage signs on the wall, the casual atmosphere, and the broad menu selection, Mac’s offers a fun, casual experience that gets my kids excited. If you have a son, expect him to ooh and ah over the motorcycles parked by the building. All kids will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and the exceptional food. The kids menu (and portions) are no joke. Don’t expect a puny sized plate. My kids took half of their food home to finish for lunch the next day. And they both enjoyed the free Hot Wheels car that came along with their order.
Mac’s is a hot spot for locals, as well as tourists, looking for the best BBQ in town. We started with my favorite, the VTX Chipotle wings. The kids enjoyed these too because they’re tangy and not too spicy.
The kids had cheeseburgers, one with an order of fries and one with the best mac and cheese I’ve ever tasted. I had the little pig, what they consider a small BBQ pulled pork sandwich and a side of cheese grits..yum. Don’t forget to add a sauce on your sandwich. I went with the vinegar based, because I like my BBQ Eastern North Carolina style.
However, you can choose from one of 4 different sauces. Chad had the big pig with Carolina BBQ sauce.
We topped off our meals by sharing two delicious desserts, the fried apple pie and warm chocolate brownie.
You will not leave hungry. The portions are huge, everything is reasonably priced, and the atmosphere is relaxed and fun. We’ll be back soon.
